My name is Devin Ashwood, I am qualified with an Advanced Diploma in
Therapeutic Counselling and accredited with the British Association
of Counselling and Psychotherapy.
My practice is in Bruton. I also work at a GP surgery in Somerset but
am able to arrange to make home visits in some cases.
I am able to help people with a range of problems. Over the years, I
have become specialised in addiction, depression, anxiety and panic
disorders but my training and experience go beyond this. I am currently
employed teaching addictions counselling to students at Bath University
and have completed a postgraduate course in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
I am
committed to helping people to reach their full potential. I have experience
working with a wide range of issues from addiction through to personal
and spiritual development.
My training includes an advanced (level 4) Diploma in counselling certified
by the CPCAB, a Post Graduate
Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy from the University of
Cumbria, a Diploma in Holistic Hypnotherapy (completed with distinction),
level 2 certificates in both counselling skills and studies and numerous
specialist workshops and shorter courses on specific therapeutic issues.
I have worked professionally in a number of specialist agencies that
tackle some of the more difficult areas such as social exclusion amongst
teenagers and addictions counselling.
I currently work as an addictions counsellor in one of Europe’s
leading addictions treatment centres and teach addictions counselling
to students at Bath University. I also work as practice counsellor in
a Somerset GP NHS health centre and as the Buddhist Chaplain at HMP
Exeter.
Clinical audits and supervision conducted within agencies in which I
hve worked have repeatedly described my performance as ‘Excellent’.
I am a fully accredited member of the BACP (British
Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and as such work within
their Code of Ethics, receive regular supervision and am covered by
professional insurance
